This Cookie Policy explains how The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities ("TWF", "we", "us", "our") ICAIR department uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales and has been prepared in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
We use cookies and similar technologies on icair.ac to make the site work, to understand how it is being used, and to improve your experience. This policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can control them.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
Who we are
ICAIR is a department of The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities (KSIMC), a charity registered in England and Wales under number 282303. The World Federation of KSIMC is the data controller for information collected through this website.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit. They allow the website to recognise your device when you return, or when you move between pages. Other technologies do a similar job — including web beacons, pixels and local storage. In this policy we use the word "cookies" to refer to all of these.
Most cookies do not identify you personally. They collect more general information, such as how visitors arrive at the site, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they are. Some cookies do hold personal information — for example, a cookie that remembers your preferences.
Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- keep the website working properly and securely
- remember choices you have made, such as your cookie preferences
- understand which of our publications, events and podcast episodes are of most interest, so that we can improve what we produce
- allow embedded content such as videos and podcast players to function
We do not use cookies for behavioural advertising. We do not run advertising on this site, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to share your browsing behaviour with advertisers.
The cookies we use
Our cookies fall into the following categories.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They include cookies that keep the site secure, that allow the donation form to work, that remember what you have put in a form, and that record your cookie preferences so that we do not ask you again on every page.
These cookies do not require your consent because the site cannot operate without them.
Analytics and performance cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site — how many people visit, which pages they read, how they move between pages, and where errors occur. We use Google Analytics 4 for this purpose.
We use this information in aggregate to improve the site. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not permit our analytics provider to do so.
These cookies are only set if you consent to them.
Functional cookies
These allow the site to remember choices you have made and to provide enhanced features — for example, remembering a preference so that you do not need to set it again on your next visit.
These cookies are only set if you consent to them.
Third-party and embedded content cookies
Some of our pages contain content hosted by other organisations, such as video players, podcast players, event listings and social media feeds. When you view a page containing this content, the provider may set cookies on your device as though you had visited their site directly.
The providers we currently use include:
| Provider | Purpose | Their privacy information |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Analytics) | Website usage measurement | policies.google.com/privacy |
| YouTube | Embedded video | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Stripe | Donation processing and fraud prevention | stripe.com/gb/privacy |
We do not control these cookies. Please refer to the relevant provider's own policy for details.
Managing your cookie preferences
When you first visit icair.ac, you will be asked whether you accept non-essential cookies. Only strictly necessary cookies are set before you make that choice. We will only place non-essential cookies on your device if you provide your consent.
You can change your mind at any time by selecting "Cookie settings" in the footer, or by .
Controlling cookies through your browser
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies have been set, delete them individually or all at once, and block them from particular sites or altogether.
Instructions for the most common browsers are available here:
- Google Chrome: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Safari: support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/safari/sfri11471/mac
- Microsoft Edge: support.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-edge
- Mozilla Firefox: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cookies-information-websites-store-on-your-computer
Please note that if you block all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, parts of our website — including the donation form and our enquiry form — may not work correctly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website changes or as we add or remove services. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
